Online video is not something in the future. It is one of the most powerful mediums today. Online social networks are all the rage these days, but what does that mean for the small business owner? After all, aren't some of these sites overrun by teens and college kids?
Facebook is generally used to network individuals and to do so you need a mug shot. Okay, maybe not a mug shot but get a picture with your good side. Facebook takes a different approach to networking. Whereas LinkedIn is highly professional and all business, Facebook is a little more casual and fun. Facebook is like a Myspace, but it is targeted toward the smarter group. One of the reason why Facebook is growing so fast is because people are able to use it to market their site by providing something for the community.
Blogs grow and are influenced by their environment (not only individual readers but the aggregate character of conversations. So as I think about it, can one definition of blogs possibly be sufficient? Blogs may be a way for a business to increase attention to their site or it may be a way for people who enjoy writing about a specific topic to make a little money on the side. The blogging business is growing and wider and wider varieties of individuals and businesses are find ways to incorporate it into their fields. Blogging, also known as web log, is becoming popular. At first, it was used mostly by teenagers to keep their journals online.
Search for and find free advertising sites that offer you a banner to place on their site. This type of social networking will provide you with other leads that you may not have accessed to otherwise.
Market online, or market offline. Try flyers, an overnight radio spot or an inflatable sign. Marketing and developing people are the two most important areas where a home business owner needs to spend their time. All other responsibilities should be delegated. Marketing your company or product right can do wonderful things to your business.
Ask your staff in these departments how you can help them do their jobs more efficiently. Ask your customers what they don't like about your existing customer services operation. Ask them to check it and correct it before passing it up to you.
Twitter is facilitating all sorts of communication from all sorts of people. But it can be fascinating and distracting all at once. Twitter is a great place to ask what they think. Any social network is made up of a group people in the same niche.
Activity is the key to success in social media. That, who uses social media only to promote their own sites, always ends up in failure. Active users were in closer concentric rings, ultimately being a "Project Leader" at the core or hub. Netscape, like the Firefox browser today, develops as its users actively participate.
