The Art Book by Phaidon Press
I can't count the times I've grabbed this stout little book for research or just pure enjoyment. The Art Book is a reference guide to 500 artists, with each page typically featuring the artist's best known piece. Of course the Leonardo da Vinci page displays "The Mona Lisa". Can you guess which work of art is shown for Gustav Klimt?
Other nice features include:
- A Glossary of Terms
- A List of Artistic Movements
- A Museum Directory
The Art Book can be used as a handy reference, or just leave it out for guests to browse. The larger hardback edition is an excellent addition if your budget (and coffee table) allows. Phaidon Press is leading publisher of art books.
